I’d like to introduce myself. I am an Artist and Art Teacher who lives in San Francisco. 99% of my paintings are done plein air - on location. I go to various sites within a 3-hour drive North or South of San Francisco to paint mostly in oil and occasionally in watercolor. Movement is the trademark of my work. I often use diagonals to make your eyes move around the work.

I love going outside to paint. My paintings represent not only actual landscapes but also unique experiences. I want to capture the essence of what I see and translate that into something that the viewer can also experience.

When I paint there are no distractions. I am in a state of intense concentration on the present. This give me a sense of timelessness; there is only the here and now. While painting, there is nothing in the world for me but the views, canvas, paint, and the brushes in front of me. My life is complete. I need nothing more than to move paint around with my brushes. The experience of creating a painting is separate to me from seeing how the finished piece turns out. Sometimes, when I am finished, I look at my work and wonder, “Did I really paint this?” Those are usually the best, most cohesive painting I’ve done.

I sold my first drawing when I was 13, and, though largely self taught I have a BA in painting and drawing. I also studied briefly under Charles Movali who writes for American Artist Magazine, and with the well-known California Artist Joanne Corso. I have been in a number of shows including one at Nieman Marcus. My paintings are generally sold by word of mouth. I’d like to offer you here just a few of my many paintings.
